Join the Choir
Would you like the thrill of singing with a mixed voice choir that has a great choral tradition going back over 100 years?
If you are thinking of joining a choir in Oxford, then singing with the Oxford Bach Choir is a wonderfully rewarding experience. As a singing member you will have the chance to rehearse and perform with one of the most respected amateur choirs in the UK.
You will meet like-minded people who share your interest in music and have an opportunity to experience singing with professional conductors, orchestras and soloists.
After a long break in rehearsals enforced on us by Covid-19, we are now pleased to announce that the OBC is back in action!
Whilst our planned concerts and events for the autumn and spring season are on hold, we will still be rehearsing and putting on performances, where these are possible under government guidelines. Our summer concert – the Duruflé Requiem – is currently still in the programme for the season.
We are also pleased to publicise our 2021-2022 season and will open ticket sales once concerts can be confirmed.
Whilst we were thrilled to restart small group, socially distanced rehearsals in September, following the Government announcement on 30 October of a lockdown for November, rehearsals are moving to Zoom.
Auditions are taken by Benjamin Nicholas, the Choir’s Music Director and are very informal. They last no more than ten minutes and consist of singing a short, prepared piece of your own choice, some scales or arpeggios, and some sight-reading from a vocal score.
We are not however undertaking any auditions due to the current situation, but if you would like to be informed when they become available again, please email Pia, our Membership Secretary.
